Hosting is not created equal; you can host your non-proprietary site almost anywhere, the difference is the security of the host, backups, customer support, and a clear explanation of your needs being met – nothing more, and certainly nothing less. When you do not have the SSL search engines penalize you and warn visitors (even if you do not use ecommerce) that even visiting your site could be harmful.
